Abstract

This chapter describes specific biosecurity recommendations for facilities that have different levels of risk. Laboratory biosecurity risk mitigation measures, as described in Chapters 3 and 4, should be more robust for higher-risk scenarios than for lower-risk scenarios. In this chapter, facilities are characterized by their highest-risk biosecurity scenarios. For example, we define a “Moderate-Risk Facility” (MRF) as one whose risk assessment determines that the facility only has low- and moderate-risk biosecurity scenarios to protect against. Most bioscience institutions will likely be characterized as low- or moderate-risk facilities.
