Abstract
This entry provides a broad overview of some general principles that govern the design and conduct of clinical trials. Specifically discussed are operational approaches to conducting a randomized and blinded trial and reasons why the absence of randomization, unblinded studies, and loss to follow-up can be major sources of bias in clinical trials.
