Image interpolation refers to computational approaches of obtaining high-resolution images from their low-resolution representation. It is closely related to the field of single-image super-resolution and image upsampling. This chapter reviews and compares two classes of image interpolation methods: model based versus learning based. It highlights the most recent advances in both categories and contains some experimental comparison on the same benchmark data set.
