Abstract

Ionization gauges with hot filaments are devices that measure electric current as a function of molecular gas density n, which is proportional to the gas pressure (p = nkT), but also dependent on the gas nature. Since the temperature deviation in a vacuum system and ambient is usually insignificant, gas pressure can be determined without the measurement of temperature T, using calibrated gauges.
