Abstract

BILOG-MG for the analysis of dichotomously scored items (Zimowski et al., 2003) is one among a number of programs for IRT analysis of item response data introduced by R. Darrell Bock and his students from the University of Chicago. Released in 1996 as an extension of the BILOG program (Mislevy & Bock, 1983), the program was developed in response to the large number of practical applications involving data from more than one group of respondents (e.g., Bock & Zimowski, 1997). Originally available as DOS software, BILOG-MG was updated in 2003 to operate within a Windows environment. Over the years, the program has enjoyed widespread use among researchers, practitioners, and students of IRT. Today, it remains one of the most widely used programs for IRT analysis and scoring of binary data.
