Abstract

This entry describes current progress in green product manufacturing with the application of green chemistry to the industrial process. Since the last decade, green chemistry has played an important role in green product development, especially chemical products. The implementation of green chemistry—the design of chemical products and processes that reduce or eliminate the use and generation of hazardous sub- stances—becomes essential to increase the standard of human living without having a negative impact on the environment. In this entry, the concepts in green chemistry for producing green products, especially involving the chemical industrial process, are reviewed. Several examples in applying green chemistry to the catalytic process are described. The role of green chemistry in producing nanomaterials especially in the preparation and synthesizing steps is shown, and several types of green solvents are demonstrated to be used further in the manufacturing of green products. These implementations of green chemistry through the production of chemical products are a particularly good example of developments that may inspire future sustainable development.
