Abstract

Increasing concentrations of atmospheric gases, such as carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (N2O), contribute to radiative forcing. Activities related to land use are importantly responsible for the buildup of CO2, CH4, and N2O in the atmosphere. A survey of techniques will be described for measuring fluxes of greenhouse gases (GHG) from soils. Subsequently, sampling techniques, sample handling, and means of detection will be presented.
