Abstract

An increasing number of peptides and proteins are being introduced into therapeutics since improvements in biotechnology and informatics have allowed large quantities of both to be identified and produced relatively easily at a reasonable cost (1), thereby making drug design more rational (2). Moreover, in the last decade, different approaches have been used to produce proteolytically stable molecules and thus increase the short plasma half-lives of protein and peptide drug candidates (3,4).
