Abstract

Advances in combinatorial chemistry and high-throughput screening (HTS) have yielded an increased number of drug candidates under development (1). However, the prevalent use of HTS has tended to increase the molecular weight of the drug candidates and consequently has decreased their water solubility (2). The low solubility issue limits the further development of drug candidates. As a result, advanced technologies, which could help overcome low aqueous solubility and enhance the absorption of drug candidates, are urgently needed to enable the development of these drugs with these properties.
