Abstract

Calorimetry is the measurement of energy changes within a material that are either manifested as exothermic (heat liberating) or endothermic (heat consuming) events (Table 1). Changes in energy (not absolute energies) are conventionally determined, and quantitative measurements may be made if the mass of the sample(s) is accurately known (1,2).
