We know that lasers emit a brilliant beam of highly monochromatic, coherent radiation. In practice, it will be more convenient if the wavelength can be continuously adjusted. Tunable lasers are such lasers that can continuously shift their emission wavelength over a wide spectral range. Because of this characteristic, they are widely used in diverse applications such as spectral emitters, laser cooling, data storage, optical communications, imaging, etc.
