Abstract

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) has several features that make it attractive for a broad range of applications. Imaging can be performed in situ and nondestructively. High-speed, real-time imaging is possible with acquisition rates of several frames per second. OCT technology is fiber-optically based, and it draws upon technology developed for the photonics industry. Image information is generated in electronic form, which can be processed as well as transmitted via networks.
