Organizational memory (OM) has to do with an organization’s ability to access and use the knowledge, expertise, and experience gained by its staff for the purpose of meeting its ongoing business needs. Across the literature, there is consensus that the primary repository of OM is the staff that carries out the work of that organization. This is increasingly important given the large wave of retirements expected across the private and public sectors in the near future as well as a change in employment tenure as workers increasingly change jobs every 3–5 year.
